Out of the Garden Community Project
ONST-Lexington is teaming up with the local United Way to find local organizations who need volunteers that ONST could team-up with for various projects. In April, we worked with Leslie Richards, Girl Scout Outside Recruitment Community Manager for the Piedmont, to get the word out to Kindergarten aged girls about a new program called Girl Sprouts. We put bags together to pass out at their events. We chose this project because of the core mission the Girl Scouts believe in and teach to our young girls. Girl Scouts prepares girls to empower themselves and promotes compassion, courage, confidence, character, leadership, entrepreneurship, and active citizenship through activities involving camping, community service, learning first aid, and earning badges by acquiring practical skills. Girl Scouts’ achievements are recognized with various special awards, including the Girl Scout Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards. We were happy to help them in the effort to shape the lives of these young girls. Thank you, Tammy, Sheila, and Tanya!

ONST serves the community again! Our Greensboro and Lexington offices joined forces to help children in need to have food, clothing, and comfort through the Backpack Beginnings organization. Who benefits from our community service? Backpack Beginnings helps over 6,000 children experiencing hunger and trauma in our community. During the summer, they provide food backpack services at multiple locations across Guilford County to keep hungry tummies filled and worry free while school meals are not provided. When we give our time to others we benefit as well, and this will be a great team-building opportunity for our Greensboro and Lexington offices.
