Executive Team

Denis de St. Aubin
Chairman
Denis founded Old North State Trust in 2003 and has been the driving force behind shaping the culture of the company. He instills a deep commitment to integrity, client-first service, and excellence in fiduciary responsibility. Through visionary leadership and an unwavering dedication to ethical wealth stewardship, Denis has fostered a culture of trust, collaboration, and innovation. His influence is evident in the firm’s value-driven approach, where every team member is empowered to provide personalized solutions and uphold the highest standards of professionalism. As Chairman, Denis ensures the company adheres to its mission, vision, ethical standards, and core values. Denis is involved with several non-profit organizations, including the NC Art Incubator. He additionally serves on the Board of Directors of Galloway Ridge, a Life Plan community that exists to inspire meaningful and engaged lives and assure residents a superior quality of life and care.

Michael Spohn
CEO
As the Chief Executive Officer of Old North State Trust, Michael Spohn brings over three decades of leadership experience in the financial services industry. With a deep commitment to providing exceptional fiduciary and legacy services, Michael has been instrumental in driving the firm’s growth and its reputation for trust services and personalized client success. Under Michael’s leadership, Old North State Trust has expanded its capabilities, offering a comprehensive suite of fiduciary, financial management, and planning services to families, business owners, and individuals. Michael’s strategic vision centers around creating customized solutions that empower clients to meet their legacy and core value goals while maintaining a steadfast focus on long-term and sustainable financial success. Michael’s career has been centered around delivering results while maintaining an unwavering commitment to client-first principles and the transfer of core values to the next generation. With a collaborative leadership style and a client-centric approach, Michael continues to inspire the team at Old North State Trust to maintain the highest standards of excellence and client satisfaction. Michael is an active member of various industry organizations and has contributed to numerous philanthropic initiatives throughout his career. Outside of work, he enjoys most sporting or music events and is passionate about creating the next generation of leaders through his efforts of being a middle school basketball coach.

Tammy Sharpe
President/CFO
As President and CFO of Old North State Trust, Tammy Sharpe plays a pivotal role in overseeing the firm’s operations and strategic growth. With over 28 years of experience in fiduciary services and wealth management, Tammy is deeply committed to ensuring that Old North State Trust continues to provide clients with personalized solutions to meet their financial and estate planning needs. Tammy’s leadership is built on a foundation of integrity, collaboration, and a client-first approach. She is known for her ability to navigate complex financial landscapes and drive operational excellence, which has been instrumental in positioning Old North State Trust as a trusted partner for families, individuals and institutions. Tammy’s extensive background enables her to guide clients with confidence and care, helping them to secure their legacies while achieving financial success. Tammy is dedicated to upholding the values that define Old North State Trust with transparency and tailored solutions for every client. Tammy is an active member of various industry organizations and contributes to several philanthropic initiatives and community engagements. Meet the Old North State Trust Team

Laura Allen
Associate Trust Officer
Laura is an Associate Trust Officer serving Greenville and eastern North Carolina. She is responsible for the day-to-day administration of trusts, estates, and retirement accounts, including cash management, asset tracking, and client service. Laura has over 16 years of experience in the banking industry. Prior to joining the Old North State Trust team, she worked for Yadkin Bank-AgCarolina Farm Credit. Laura graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor’s in Business Education.

Marshall Allen, CFP®, CTFA, ATFA
Director of Trust Services
Marshall Allen serves as the Director of Trust Services for Old North State Trust. He is responsible for upholding successful company operations by implementing business strategies and fostering client relationships with his team. In addition to his leadership role, Marshall assists and guides clients in developing their financial objectives through the administration of trust, investment management, and estate accounts. With over 15 years of dedicated experience within the Trust & Wealth Management industry, Marshall brings a depth of knowledge and expertise to his position. Focused on building stronger communities, Marshall serves on various local non-profit boards and committees and is active in his local church. Marshall is a proud girl dad, committed to generational success for his daughters and all of the clients of Old North State Trust. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, golfing, and exploring the outdoors.

Susan Beard, CRPC®, CTFA
Regional Relationship Development Officer
As the Regional Relationship Development Officer for Old North State Trust, Susan Beard specializes in collaborating with professional advisors to provide strategic wealth solutions for families. Drawing on four decades of financial services experience, Susan brings a knowledgeable, thoughtful, and caring approach to each client she serves. Her deep industry insight allows her to understand the unique circumstances and goals of every family. Susan takes pride in building meaningful connections, gathering a clear understanding of what matters most to her clients, and educating them on key financial considerations that impact their lives. Her estate planning-centric approach, combined with her passion for personalized service, allows her to deliver tailored strategies that foster lasting, multi-generational relationships. Susan’s commitment to excellence and dedication to client service have established her as a trusted advisor in the community. She also serves on several non-profit boards and committees, reflecting her passion for community engagement and volunteerism. In her free time, Susan enjoys participating in a monthly book club and practicing yoga, both of which she finds are wonderful ways to relax and stay connected.

Spence Evans, CTFA, MBA
Director of Relationship Development and Senior Trust Officer
Spence Evans serves as the Director of Relationship Development and a Senior Trust Officer for Old North State Trust. He works throughout the ONST footprint with professional advisors and families to develop customized estate, trust, and legacy plans. With over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, Spence is committed to upholding the firm’s values of integrity, collaboration, and personalized client service. His ability to navigate complex financial landscapes and provide tailored solutions has allowed him to build trusting partnerships. Spence serves on various non-profit boards and committees, including serving as the Vice-Chair for Pitt-Greenville Crime Stoppers. He is also an Assistant Chief for the Winterville Community Fire Department, a passion ignited nearly 20 years ago, reflecting his drive to serve our clients and community.

Regina Johnson, CTFA
Senior Trust Officer
Regina serves as a Senior Trust Officer for the Triad area of North Carolina. She has extensive experience working with trust administration, estate settlement, taxation, asset allocation, and risk management. In addition, she also specializes in older adult issues, such as Medicare, social security, financial protection, and transitions. She spent 25 years in fiduciary administration with Wells Fargo and its predecessor, Wachovia. Prior to Old North State Trust, Regina served as a Financial Advisor at Midtown Financial Advisors holding Series 65, 63, and 6 licenses. Regina is a graduate of High Point University with a B.S. in Business Administration. She also received a post-baccalaureate degree in Gerontology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Regina graduated from the Southeastern Trust School at Campbell University and completed Cannon Trust School. She holds the Certified Trust Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers and the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) designation from the Society of Certified Senior Advisors. She is an active volunteer with the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP).

Keith Manning, CFP®, CTFA, ATFA
Senior Trust Officer
Keith serves as a Senior Trust Officer for Eastern North Carolina through the Greenville office. He is responsible for the administration of trusts, investment management accounts, IRAs and estates. Keith earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Trust and Wealth Management, a Minor in Financial Planning, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Campbell University. Keith has over 14 years of experience dedicated to various roles within the Trust and Wealth Management industry. He is a Certified Financial Planner, Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor and an Accredited Trust and Fiduciary Advisor. Keith is active in volunteering in the community, and he also serves as a member of the Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor exam committee.

Jan Metcalf, CTFA
Senior Trust Officer
Jan serves as Senior Trust Officer assisting clients with developing and implementing their personal financial objectives through the administration of trusts, estates, IRAs, investment, and custodial accounts. Jan is a graduate of Elon College, with further graduate work at UNC Charlotte. A graduate of Cannon Financial Institute’s Personal Trust School, she is certified by the American Institute of Banking as a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA). Jan has worked in trust services for over 25 years and previously in the financial and administrative areas of private business.

Robin Miller
Trust Officer
Robin serves as a Trust Officer for the Wilmington and Southeastern NC areas. She assists and guides clients in developing their financial objectives through the administration of trust. Robin has over 45 years of experience in the banking industry. Prior to joining Old North State Trust, she worked for Wachovia Wealth Management as a Trust Associate for 13 years. Throughout her career, Robin has held key positions, but her primary focus continues to be on meeting clients’ needs.

Paul Snyder
Chief Investment Officer
As Chief Investment Officer, Paul Snyder is responsible for implementing the overall investment strategy, overseeing asset allocation, and participating in research and portfolio management duties. With over two decades of experience, Paul has worked with a diverse range of clients and entities, including various types of trusts, business owners, foundations, endowments, retirement/qualified plans, and public and private pension/profit sharing plans. He is passionate about building long-term investment strategies aimed at generational success, while recognizing and honoring the unique goals each client brings to Old North State Trust as part of their lasting legacy. His commitment to excellence and client success has been instrumental in fostering strong relationships and delivering exceptional results. Driven by a deep commitment to community service, Paul is actively involved with the Mooresville Christian Mission and Alzheimer’s Association. Outside of volunteering, he enjoys fishing, hiking, hunting and various other outdoor adventures.

Mark Turner
Portfolio Manager
Mark is a Portfolio Manager with over 20 years of experience managing fiduciary assets across a broad spectrum of accounts. He is responsible for monitoring asset allocations based on client objectives, risk tolerance, and market conditions. Additionally, he assists in conducting financial market research and overseeing investment compliance and risk management. Mark graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management and earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Winthrop University. He is also an active member of the Clemmons Civic Club, where he currently serves as Scholarship Chairman and a member of the Board.

Hannah Vaughan, JD, CELA
Trust Officer
Hannah serves as a Trust Officer for the Triad area of North Carolina through the Greensboro office. She oversees client relationships, administering both trust and investment accounts. Hannah has extensive experience in Special Needs Trust administration. Prior to joining the Old North State Trust team, she served as General Counsel to Corporation of Guardianship and taught Elder & Special Needs Law courses at Elon Law, UNCG and GTCC. Hannah graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 2000, where she earned a B.S. degree in Psychology, and she earned her J.D. from the University of Alabama in 2005. She is certified by the National Elder Law Foundation as a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA). She is passionate about serving her community in various capacities, especially as it relates to Elder Justice.

Royce Weisner, MBA
Senior Trust Officer
Royce serves as a Senior Trust Officer in the Triad and Western North Carolina markets. He is responsible for the administration of trusts, investment management accounts, IRAs, and estates. Royce earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Trust and Wealth Management, a Minor in Financial Planning, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Campbell University. With over 17 years of experience, his extensive background in Trust Services and wealth management is a natural fit for the Old North State Trust team. Royce is active in volunteering in the community. He is also a member of the Greensboro and Asheville Estate Planning Counsels as well as a member of the SFSP group (Society of Financial Service Professionals) in both Greensboro and Asheville.

Iesha Wood
Operating Officer and Individual Retirement Account Specialist II
As Operating Officer, Iesha oversees and enhances the day-to-day operations ensuring efficiency and seamless processes. She contributes to innovative solutions to drive organizational growth and success. In addition to her role as Operating Officer, Iesha has been certified as an IRA Specialist II and serves as the Individual Retirement Account Specialist. She has completed specialized training to effectively manage and oversee all aspects of IRAs from research and correcting client IRS audits, verifying and processing IRS reporting, reviewing, and conducting internal IRA training for company staff. She also manages all Self-Directed IRA accounts. Prior to joining Old North State Trust, Iesha worked at Harborone Bank as an operations associate and IRA coordinator with over 15 years of experience.
